Lifeline Options gives a holistic one-to-one service to meet the immigration, welfare and professional needs of asylum seekers and refugees in the West Midlands, and more widely in the UK. Over the past few years we have persisted in difficult circumstances and have succeeded in releasing numerous individuals and families from immigration control, while also supporting settled refugees in their educational and professional fulfilment in this country.
Originally registered as a company limited by share in October 2005, Lifeline Options converted to Community Interest Company status. We have always had a community interest in the marketing and promotion of refugees in the West Midlands, and have incorporated other migrants into this interest over the years. We currently operate mainly through refugee trainees, social work students and human rights graduates.
In 2005, we inherited client files from the defunct Midlands Refugee Council and joined the EQUAL Progress GB partnership under European funding. Our programme — the Programme for Refugee Enterprise Service Specialisation — was commended for effective peer mentoring. We also host Leonardo Da Vinci European graduate programmes and provide practice placements for Social Work Degree students from local universities.

Immigration advice with integrity
We are networked with immigration solicitors nationwide and hold limited assistance powers authorised by the OISC. We are also a member of ILPA. Our advice is free and not restricted by how “winnable” a case appears.
Asylum welfare that protects dignity
Hundreds of destitute asylum seekers come through our doors every year. We complete Section 4 support applications, liaise with Home Office teams, and pursue Asylum Support Tribunal appeals when applications are refused.
Pathways into education and work
From CIC and Pathways into Education courses to Building Bridges into healthcare and refugee enterprise programmes, we help settled refugees rebuild skills and access professional fulfilment in the UK.
